knitted hat pattern

I'm not really a hat person, spend too much time trying to get my hair to lay perfectly flat. But I thought this one was really cute, and the girl looks just like someone I went to high school with. Anyway... I got this pattern from a live journal post at some point. Materials: Less than half of a 6-oz skein of TLC Baby in Pinkie Set of double-pointed needles US size 6 (4 mm) Tapestry needle Gauge: 18 sts per 4 inches in k2tog,yo pattern Size: I have a large head and thick hair (about 23" around), and this cap is made to fit loosely. So if you have a smaller head or want a tighter fit, you can either subtract 4 sts for every inch (approx) difference in head size, or just use thinner yarn with a tighter gauge to get the right fit. Or you can make it as is, and it might turn out with more of a beret or tam look. Cast on 108 sts and distribute to 3 dpns (36 on each). Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist. Work 6 rounds in k2,p2 ribbing. Lace Pattern: Round 1: *k2tog, yo*; repeat between*s around. Round 2: knit around. Repeat these 2 rounds 17 more times. Crown Shaping: Round 1: *k2tog, [k2tog, yo] 8 times*; repeat between *s around - 102 sts rem. Round 2 and all even rounds: knit around. Round 3: *k3tog, yo, [k2tog, yo] 7 times*; repeat between *s around - 96 sts. Round 5: *k2tog, [k2tog, yo] 7 times*; repeat between *s around - 90 sts. Round 7: *k3tog, yo, [k2tog, yo] 6 times*; repeat btween *s around - 84 sts. Round 9: *k2tog, [k2tog, yo] 6 times*; repeat between *s around - 78 sts. Round 11: *k3tog, yo, [k2tog, yo] 5 times*; repeat btween *s around - 72 sts. Round 13: *k2tog, [k2tog, yo] 5 times*; repeat between *s around - 66 sts. Round 15: *k3tog, yo, [k2tog, yo] 4 times*; repeat btween *s around - 60 sts. Round 17: *k2tog, [k2tog, yo] 4 times*; repeat between *s around - 54 sts. Round 19: *k3tog, yo, [k2tog, yo] 3 times*; repeat btween *s around - 48 sts. Round 21: *k2tog, k2tog, yo*; repeat between *s around - 36 sts. Round 23: *k3tog, yo*; repeat between *s around - 24 sts. Round 25: *k2tog, k2tog, yo*; repeat between *s around - 18 sts. Round 27: k2tog around - 9 sts. Cut yarn, leaving a 6-inch tail. Use tapestry needle to thread end through remaining loops. Put tight and tie off. Weave in ends.

Quant or scarf

This is one of my favorite patterns. At first it was impossibly hard, but eventually it got much easier. It's similar to the pattern that I posted for dish-cloths. I followed this pattern for a Quant that I found on Knitty and adapted it for a scarf. I used the same Crystal Palace Yarns: Taos that they used in the picture. If I was to do it again I would probably use something else. It wasn't very soft (especially since I was making a scarf) and it was impossible to undo. I can't tell you how much i wasted trying to take apart what I had done and not being able to. I defiantly wont try and learn a new and complex pattern with that yarn. But, in its defense, it is beautiful, these pictures do not do it justice at all. And the length of the variegate is perfect for this pattern. Here is how I retyped the pattern so it was easier for me to follow when knitting a scarf from it. I never was able to finish it, so I haven't yet figured out how I'm going to fill in to bind off. If anyone gets there before me, let me know

ribbed hat- knit

This is one of those patterns that I have had saved forever. The URL that I originally got it from is http://www.crumpart.net/patterns/chocribhatpattern.htm but non of the links off that website seem to work anymore, so I don't even know what to call the site. Thanks to whoever actually created and posted this pattern.

Materials: MC: 8 ply wool yarn in chocolate brown — 75g (I used about 3/4 of a 100g ball from Yarn Barn) CC: Noro Kureyon in shade 88 — 1 ball (you will only use a fraction of this) 1 set 4mm DPNs 1 40cm 4mm circular needle Stitch marker Yarn needle

Gauge: 20st=10cm in StSt when knit in round

Pattern notes: Suits average sized adult head (Mr C's head is 60cm around) Skills used: Knitting in the round on double pointed needles. Decreasing (K2tog/P2tog = knit/purl two stitches together)

Directions:

CO 100 sts on circular needle in MC. PM at beg of round.

(K4, P2, K2, P2) around.

Continue in pattern for 5 more rounds.

Switch to CC, continue in pattern for 3 rounds. (When changing colours, carry the colour you are not using loosely behind the work, twisting it with the colour you are using every second round.)

Switch to MC, continue in pattern for 3 rounds.

Switch to CC, continue in pattern for 6 rounds, then cut CC leaving a 15cm tail to weave in later.

Switch to MC and continue in pattern for approximately 20cm (you can end a few cm earlier if you want a shorter hat.)

Next round (knit onto DPNs — 3 pattern repeats on 1st needle, 4 on 2nd, 3 on 3rd) — (K2tog, K2, P2, K2, P2) around

Next round — (K3, P2, K2, P2) around

Next round — (K1, K2tog, P2, K2, P2) around

Cut yarn leaving a 15cm tail. Thread tail through yarn needle, slip remaining stitches onto it, then pull tightly. Weave in ends.

dishcloth knitted pattern

Garterlac Dishcloth

Materials required: 1 ball dishcloth cotton & appropriate needles

Abbreviations:

K -- Knit K2tog -- Knit two stitches together K-FB -- Knit into the front of the next stitch and, before removing it from the needle, knit into the back of the same stitch SKP -- Slip one stitch knit-wise, knit 1 stitch, pass slipped stitch over Turn -- Put the stuff in your right hand into your left hand and the stuff that used to be in your left hand into your right hand Pick up -- Insert right hand needle from front to back into side of previous layer between two garter bumps, wrap the yarn around the needle and pull a stitch through

Directions:Very loosely, cast on 24 stitches.Bottom Triangle:

K 1, turn,

K 1, turn.

K 2, turn,

K 2, turn.

K 3, turn,

K 3, turn.

K 4, turn,

K 4, turn.

K 5, turn,

Repeat the directions for the Bottom Triangle twice more – three triangles in total.

They look a little twisted right now. Don’t worry; they’ll sort themselves out as you go along.

You are left with one stitch on the left hand needle. Transfer it to the right-hand needle. Pick up a further 7 stitches down the side of the previous row so you have 8 stitches in total, turn, and continue with the directions for Square.

Make two more Squares.

Continue adding layers in a similar manner. The next layer will be Increasing Triangle, two Squares, then Decreasing Triangle.

The next layer will be three Squares.

The next series will be Increasing Triangle, two Squares, then Decreasing Triangle.

Now it is time to make triangles along the top. Transfer the remaining stitch to your right hand needle and proceed with Top Triangle.

Top Triangle:

Pick up 7 stitches along the side of the previous row, turn.

K 6, K2tog, turn,

K 6, SKP, turn

K 5, K2tog, turn,

K 5, SKP, turn

K 4, K2tog, turn,

K 4, SKP, turn

K 3, K2tog, turn,

K 3, SKP, turn

K 2, K2tog, turn,

K 2, SKP, turn

SKP.K 1 and pass the second stitch on the right-hand needle over the first.
